Ana Fanane is the perfect balance between art and education. Dreamed of, imagined, and then brought to life, Ana Fanane is a project that puts art at the service of the youngest. Born from a season-long series of educational and interactive workshops, young participants—both creative and passionate—introduce themselves and their talents through six theater performances. Like a blank canvas, Ana Fanane is a space for expression, a medium that these young artists have painted with their own colors, emotions, and experiences. #AnaFanane, the theater festival, is an event not to be missed on Thursday, June 27, and Friday, June 28, 2019, at L’Uzine. Why #AnaFanane? It’s worth noting that these young Fnana (artists) chose to join the project themselves. Coming from the associations L’Heure Joyeuse, Dar Taliba, and Bayti, this vibrant group of 12 to 16-year-olds is bursting with energy, potential, and passion. Ana Fanane was created to develop and guide their diverse and multidisciplinary talents, teaching them not only know-how but, more importantly, life skills. "Ana Fanane, ana fanane"— a song filled with childhood memories. Due to societal stereotypes, children often aspire to become doctors, lawyers, or ministers rather than artists. Ana Fanane is both a call to reason and a celebration of passion. It exists to restore hope and purpose. #AnaFanane – The How and the Why ? Through interactive workshops led by experienced artist-mentors, Ana Fanane uses theater, stage direction, and the arts as tools for learning and empowerment. With three associations, four trainers, five partners, twelve months of work, and more than 100 young actors and participants, this is the essence of #AnaFanane.

Offered weekly to the participating youth groups, the Ana Fanane theatre workshops provide a comprehensive program dedicated to this art form. Beyond the core aspects of theatre, such as directing, set design, costume creation, and acting, these workshops also offer a strong pedagogical component that helps participants build their personality, self-confidence, and self-esteem.

The Ana Fanane Theatre Learning Guide is a valuable tool designed to support both artistic trainers and workshop facilitators. It encourages autonomy within the sessions and streamlines the teaching process of theatrical practices.

To conclude the theatre workshop cycles, the Ana Fanane Festival is held at the end of the year and showcases the plays prepared by the young participants, guided by artist-trainers and staff from the partner organizations.

The Festival spans several days, during which all the young people and project partners attend and celebrate the artistic outcomes of the Ana Fanane workshops.

Each summer, guided by a team of artists, young participants join an artistic summer camp that blends circus arts, dance, Batucada, singing, and theatre.

This is a true opportunity to introduce youth to street arts. The Ana Fanane artistic summer camp brings together participants and allows them to connect with young people from other cities.

Autonomy, tolerance, discipline, decision-making, self-discovery, and talent development are just some of the values the association aims to nurture, delivered in a way that stands apart from traditional camps, through artistic workshops that prepare for the grand Carnival.

A true street performance, the Ana Fanane Carnival is the culmination of twelve days of workshops during which the young participants learned dragon dancing, juggling, clowning, dance, and Batucada.

This vibrant parade is the grand finale of the various training cycles offered through the Ana Fanane project. Over the course of a year, these young people have explored the world of art and culture, opened themselves to new experiences, grown personally, and stepped into new creative spaces.
